1)  Update your 4 Channel Dyno DataMite to Black Box II  Several of you have asked about updating your old 4 channel Dyno DataMite to the new Black Box II.  Well, we now have lots of Black Box II systems in stock and have refined the software so that this update will be easy.

If your older 4 Channel Dyno DataMite is working fine, and you don't want to add more sensors or a weather station, then I would not update.  However, it you want to add a weather station or more sensors, or if your 4 channel system is giving you problems, now is a good time to update.  Click on the following link to see a typical cost to update, including possible trade in allowances and credits:    http://www.performancetrends.com/DataMitePricesOnly.htm#Black_Box_TradeIn

2)  Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show, Dec 14-16 It's not too early to start thinking about attending the worlds largest "hardcore" motorsports trade show, the PRI show in Orlando, Florida. This is the only trade show we attend because it's the biggest and best. We'll be in booth 1153. Stop by and see what new things we have for 2007. You must make reservations to attend, so call PRI at 949-499-5413 in California to make them.

3)  Cam Test Stand / Cam Analyzer Enhancements  We've added several enhancements to our cam testing system, including:

  1. Cam Card  The Plus Version of the software will now display and print out the cam data in a form like a typical "cam card" from a cam grinder.  Click on the following link for an example:  http://www.performancetrends.com/cam_test_stand.htm#Cam_Card
  2. Cam Locator  We've developed a quick and easy "cam locator" which keeps the cam from moving laterally on the Cam Test Stand V Blocks.  It's magnetic, so it takes no adjustment, and can easily be flipped on or off.  Check out our instructions for installing it at this link: http://www.performancetrends.com/cam_test_stand.htm#Locating_Magnet   We sell the kit for $30, and all it takes to retro-fit existing cam stands is to drill and tap one screw hole.
  3. Universal .750" Roller Lifter  We are now selling a universal roller lifter, with a .842" diameter lifter bore (typical GM lifter size) with a .750" diameter ball.  The ball eliminates the question if the roller axis is not directly in line with the cam axis.  This lifter will work for any cam designed for a .750" roller, using the .842 GM lifter bore adapter.  Click on this link for a picture:  http://www.performancetrends.com/cam_test_stand.htm#Universal_Roller_Follower
  4. Cam Analyzer Plus works with Cam Pro Plus (tm) Electronics  We've adapted the Cam Analyzer Plus version software to work with the Audie Technology Cam Pro Plus (tm) electronics.  If you have a Cam Pro Plus and would like to try different software, our Cam Analyzer Plus may be what you want.
  5. Added Options for Cam Analyzer to Work Better with Encoders Directly on Engine  We've added a couple features to the Cam Analyzer software to work better when measuring a cam in the engine.  One is the ability to find TDC with a mechanical stop on the top of the piston.  The other is to allow the linear encoder's lift readings to be reversed, so that as the tip is EXTENDED from the encoder, it means the lift readings are INCREASING.  This is needed when measuring valve lift as the valve is being pushed down into the chamber.

If you already own the Cam Analyzer (std or Plus Version), you can download this update free at:  http://www.performancetrends.com/download.htm#ca  You can unlock this latest version yourself. Just be sure to use exactly the same Registered Name when you install this new version and then the same unlock number will unlock the update. You can view your Reg Name by clicking on Reg To: at the top of the main screen on your current version, before you download and install the new version.  The standard Cam Analyzer has some updates also.

The Plus Version is a $200 upgrade from the std Cam Analyzer, and is only recommended if you are using the Cam Test Stand.

You can also read up on recent changes in this program and most of our other programs on our Updates page, which has Readme.doc files listing recent changes and bug fixes for most all programs: http://www.performancetrends.com/updates.htm

-------------------------------------------

4)  Engine Log Book, New Metric Option  We've added some recent enhancements to the Engine Log Book, most notably a Metric option.  This allows you to convert existing files in English units into typical Metric units and vice versa.  It also gives unit labels in either inches, ft lbs, etc or mm, N-m, etc for clear data entry.  You can review this program's features at: http://www.performancetrends.com/Engine_Log_Book_v1.htm  and download a demo at this link:  http://www.performancetrends.com/download.htm#Engine_Log_Book

Important: If you got an Unlocking number when you purchased your program, you can unlock this latest version yourself. Just be sure to use exactly the same Registered Name when you install this new version and then the same unlock number will unlock the update. You can view your Reg Name by clicking on Reg To: at the top of the main screen on your current version, before you download and install the new version. You can also read up on recent changes in this program and most of our other programs on our Updates page, which has Readme.doc files listing recent changes and bug fixes for most all programs: http://www.performancetrends.com/updates.htm

5)  More FAQs  We've added quite a few new Frequently Asked Questions to our FAQ page, especially concerning using our Black Box II and DataMite II on dynos.  Check it out at this link:  http://www.performancetrends.com/faq.htm

-------------------------------------------

6)  NTK L1H1 / Bosch 13246 Oxygen Sensors Closeout  We've got several of these rare and rather expensive A/F sensors left over from our early prototype days.  We're trying to get rid of them at $160 each, and have the mating connectors for $10 each.  The cheapest we've seen them on the web is for $185 each.   IMPORTANT:  These sensors do NOT work with any of our DT2-AF1, DT2-AF2 or DT2-AFG A/F systems.
