1)  July 4th Holiday Schedule  The office will be closed July 4th for the holiday, and we'll be lower staffed on July 3 and July 7 also.  If possibly try to arrange phone calls to the morning of the 3rd and 7th to give us plenty of time to get orders shipped in the afternoon.  Enjoy your 4th of July holiday and celebrate America's birthday!

-------------------------------------------

2)  Eddy Current Dyno Controllers In Stock  We're getting positive feedback on the prototype Eddy Current Dyno Controllers we have in the field on chassis dynos, and now have several in stock.  We're still not sure the maximum HP capability of our system, but we think it is in the 200-400 HP range, depending on the particular dyno and available AC power.  Cost for this first generation controller is $999, but is likely to go up after these first units are sold.

It is controlled by the Dyno DataMite program, and can be used to either ramp up the RPM at a controlled rate for full power HP/torque curves, or hold the RPM (MPH or KPH) constant as you change engine tuning parameters, throttle, etc.

to send us an email to see if this controller is right for your application.

3) Cam Analyzer "Cam Grinder" Now Exports IGS Files  The more advanced "Cam Grinder" version of Cam Analyzer has options to produce files describing the exact cam profile as if measured by a "knife edge" follower.  Actual flat tappet or roller followers broaden out the profile, which is not the form needed for CAD/CAM CNC type work.  This IGS (sometimes called IGES) file format is an important feature because it is a format that many CAD/CAM programs can import, like SolidWorks (tm), AutoCAD (tm), and Mastercam (tm).

for a link to downloading the latest v4.0 A.016.  This feature is only in the latest v4.0 A.016 "Cam Grinder" or later versions.  If you already own v4.0, this a free update.  If you choose to install this latest version....  During the installation, when asked, select to do a Refresh installation instead of a Complete (typical) installation.  This will maintain your unlock info, history log, preference settings, etc.

for a link to the Readme.doc file, listing all changes to the program for the various versions.

IMPORTANT:  If you do not have v4.0, this download could turn your older v3.8 into a demo version which could expire in 10 days.  If this happens, you will have to reinstall your v3.8 to get it working and you could lose some configuration settings (but not any test data).

Updating from v3.8 Basic to V4.0 Basic is $75.
Updating from v3.8 Pro to V4.0 Plus is $100.
Adding the Cam Grinder features to the Plus version 4.0 is $500.

You have to contact Performance Trends to do updates as these are not available via the website's shopping cart.    to send us an email.

4)  New Safety Feature for Automatic Spring Tester Software  A user had a good suggestion for the Automatic Spring Tester software.  He said it should have a safety limit, which limits the total amount of spring compression.  That way, if someone forgets to put a spring on the platens, and presses <F1> to measure the non-existent spring, the platens will not crush a misplaced finger.  Obviously, if you follow standard procedure, and close the sliding door before pressing <F1>, this will never occur.  However, "stuff happens".

To access this feature, click on Options at the top of the Recording screen, the Automatic Spring Tester, then "Safety Setting - Minimum Clearance".  It will default to 0.8 inches if you do not set it yourself.

for a link to downloading the latest v1.1 A.132 with this new feature.  If you already own the Automatic Valve Spring Tester, this a free update.  If you choose to install this latest version....  During the installation, when asked, select to do a Refresh installation instead of a Complete (typical) installation.  This will maintain your unlock info, history log, preference settings, etc.

5)  Latest Inductive Pickups Have Adjustment Knob  Our Inductive Pickup signal conditioning box has had a sensitivity adjustment screw for many years.  Prior to our newest product, you needed a small screwdriver to do the adjustment.  The new DTM-IPU now has a knob out the top of the box to allow easy hand adjustment of sensitivity.

for the FAQ which describes adjusting the sensitivity for "cleaning up" the Engine RPM signal.
