Description

The Drag Racing Analyzer Pro is software for your personal computer to simulate a full power, standing start acceleration of most any vehicle you can design. Like its "little brother" the standard Drag Racing Analyzer, it let's you play "what if" with engine power, weather, gear ratios, tire size, driving style, etc. and see the effect on ET, MPH, 60 ft times, tire spin, and much more. "Its like having a drag strip, dyno and chassis shop right in your computer."

The Pro does everything the standard Drag Racing Analyzer does. However, the Pro version has additional features not found in it or other drag racing simulation software:

  • Engine power can be modified during the run with throttle stops, Nitrous Oxide injection, and 'ram air' effect from the hood scoop.

  • Simulation of centrifugal clutches.

  • Detailed plots of up to 22 different calculated results (Fig 2)

  • Import results from data loggers or other sources for making comparisons of simulated results to actual measured results.

  • Additional "tunability" of the converter to better match your car’s performance.

  • Ability to specify converter "lock up" in different gears.

  • The you can input more info into the Match Vehicle Performance screen to also more accurately adjust converter specs and tire growth.

  • Ability to create custom reports of results at various steps of time, distance or MPH. This allows you to check the effect of a modification on, say, 40 to 140 MPH times, or 500 to 1000 Ft times.

  • Chain calculations let you make several runs while the program automatically increments the spec of your choice.

  • Auto-Optimize feature (similar to Chain calculations), but you can try more specs at once as the program zeros in on your desired performance, like minimum ET, or the ET closest to (but slower than) 9.90.

  • Can link to our DataMite Mini USB Weather Station for very accurate Dial In and Throttle Stop predictions.  See screen below.

 

The Pro will let you predict and understand how your vehicle performs with various combinations of parts. For example:

  • See trade-offs between better launch but slower MPH with high stall, high slip converters.

  • Try different centrifugal clutch engagement RPMs and settings.

  • See how throttle stop start time and time on affects ET and MPH.

  • See when you can turn on your nitrous system without breaking the tires loose.

  • Run several conditions at once (Chain Calculation or Auto-Optimize) and see how minor changes in weather conditions, headwind or throttle stop settings.

 

Output:

Shown below is the standard output screen including output (requested by the user at every 20 MPH) and the Special Timer (selected by this user for timing between the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift).

Other Features:

One time saving feature is the Auto Optimize, which lets you "sweep" through several combinations with a single command.  Below, we tried 16 Rear Axle Ratios, 6 Converter Capacities (K Factor which controls stall), and 6 1st Gear Ratios of this Powerglide (576 combinations in all).   The 10 best ETs are remembered by the program and shown in the 2nd figure below.

 

  

The Chain Calculation is similar to Auto Optimize except fewer components can be changed, but the program keeps all results, so they can be graphed as shown below.

 

Another useful feature is the Vehicle Weight Estimator, for estimating vehicle weights of popular production vehicles.

 

Team Engineer Version:

For an additional $100, you can add the Team Engineer features, which include: 

  • A complete Centrifugal (slider) Clutch builder program (see Figure below).

  • Ability to import data logger files for comparison and analysis (see Figure below).

  • More graph options like time alignment and dual cursors for analyzing sections of data.

  • The Special Timer for timing between 2 of most any type events during the run.

  • Engine RPM histograms.  

  • Adjust engine power in each gear (see Figure below).

  • Adjust engine power at launch by defining a spark retard table, like available with the MSD Grid (tm) using Launch Retard (see Figure below).  As shown in the figure, there is a "Find 'Optimum' Spark Table' where the program can automatically find the best spark retard table based on the user's inputs.  This is a very handy, time saving feature.

Program CD disks with 160+ page illustrated manual as PDF file on CD with several examples showing how to use the program . Many example engines and components preloaded in libraries for you to start with. You get 2 license keys (code numbers) to have the program on 2 computers at the same time.  Additional sites can be added at a nominal charge.
